BGK Picture??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Seems this 20" BGK is non existant. I've done some searchand can't find anything close.

I've seen it. Its very much existent. Its swimming vertically in the picture and I think its with an elephant nose. (I know, the elephant nose and BGK shouldn't get along, but they didn't seem to have any problems.) Some guy on this board has it or at least used to have it.

You can remember all that, but you can't remember how long he claims it is:screwy: 18" BGK.. Someone requested that I post pics..

This is a huge BGK, but at best it's only 16" long. In the pic it is said to be in a standard 55g(21" tall) Subtract 3" of black trim leaves 18" of glass. The BGK takes up about 75-80% of the glass, you can do the rest of the math.

I guess that elephant nose must be well over a foot long, right?

Well, it did say 18 inches, so I was close. lol. I thought I remembered 20. Also, where does it say that the tank is a 55 gallon?

Seriously, you did read the first 10 words posted in the thread, right? :duh: obviously not.

I did not read the original thread when I saw the picture. Somebody posted the pictures you presented in another thread about BGKs. I thought the poster said the knife was 20". No big deal. If you look at the date of the link to the original thread you posted, you'd see that I was not even on this board (nor was I fishkeeping) at the time the thread was posted so I was not privy to tanksize, etc. I was close enough to the size of the fish. If you scroll down that thread you posted the link to, you would see that somebody even commented on how they had a knife that was 18-19 inches. I was just trying to get the picture to to show somebody on another board (don't remember the poster) how large BGKs can get.

The pics doesn't look like 20". I've seen some 16-20 inches WC and the headshape doesn't look even the body. The pics show looks like around 12". I used to have similar fake driftwood that show on the last pics behind the BGK, it measure around 12" across. I never seen one that was raise in captivity starting from small size that ever reach 20". Only WC that was already at the certain size of 16-20 inches.

Can captive grown BGKs reach the 20" mark? Somebody said in the posted link provided by the other poster that they had an 18-19 inch BGK. Do you think that was WC?

Why would captive grown BGK's be smaller than WC ones? Why can't captive grown BGK reach the 16-20 inch mark?

Wow you still don't know that this happens in many fish. Captive have limited space and food and we hobbyist just try our best. WC have bigger space and have food they can get whenever they want. Mother nature also does water change for them.

Biggest CB I've seen is around 16".
