alright i have about a 6 inch BGK and it seems the only thing he will eat is frozen bloodworms im trying to vary his diet but he wont take any thing else any suggestions? also he is in my 75 g setup right now with my 11 inch silver aro im looking for a 260 to 300 g tank in the ohio area if anyone knows of one
also how long will it take my bgk to reach say 10 to 12 inches?

any help would be great

You could try live black worms from your local fish store or common leaf worms (bait shop). Also, what have you tried so far?

BTW welcome to MFK!

I think my concern might be how to get the food to your bgk. Is your bgk pretty aggressive at eating, how do you get food past the aro? You could try some sinking pellets like "HBH African cichlid attack". Was the krill frozen or freeze-dried?

it was frozen krill
i have been having trouble with my aro also i just got him a week ago and the guy that gave him to me was feeding him guppies and baby mice
ive been trying hikari sticks and the perch fillets but all he wants is live food

He'll switch over, probably. I'm not really an aro expert, but I have my spotted gars eating Cichlid bio-gold, Jumbo Sticks, and chunks of frozen shrimp tails, which sink and they eat off the bottom of the tank. Scavengers!- when I was told they just like live food.

they LOVE worms. but i agree a varied diet is gonna lead to a healthy fish.

you can try chopped red worms/trout worms (smaller then earthworms about 1-5inches and skinny not plump)

black worms are good but those suckers get annoying if they make their way into the substrate (i have gravel) and never come out until you vac em.

as for the aro, starve him. many people have had success from starving them, he will let up and eat the pellets =]
