I can't imagine a BGK chowing down on an adult male congo tetra. Not even a senegal bichir can swallow an adult male congo tetra whole and their mouths are bigger than a BGK. Roseline sharks, filament barbs, congo tetras, and clown loaches make excellent schooling fish that would add motion to a BGK tank.

Thanks! Is the size differential that much between a male and a female for congo tetras? Because I guess if so and the females are in danger of getting eaten I could just get males
Never had female congo tetras. They are not coloful like the males, so I never bothered with them. They don't grow as large as males, though. I know that I've kept male congo tetras with black ghost knife fish with no problems at all. There is no way a BGK can eat a large male congo.
Thank you very much! I believe they will be my chosen schooling fish for the tank. I've always liked them and thought they would look very nice in a BGK tank to add some movement and color. I appreciate the input.
Yeah, they work well. Also, the other fish I listed: clown loaches, filament barbs, roseline sharks, they work with congo tetras and black ghost knife, too. You can have a shoal of each with your BGK. I literally had this setup for a long while in one of my tanks. I never had any problems at all. Everything got along well with each other.
I was considering Clown Loaches myself! I've always thought they're really pretty, and never had a tank big enough for a couple. Did you plant your tank? And Filament Barbs are really pretty, I might do some more research on them.
I have clown loaches in with my BGK and my tank is planted. Haven't had any problems.
