BGK with Polypterus???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We should probably know the size of your tank before we say for sure it's ok

Well it's only a 46 gal. bowfront so if I remember right it's 36"x 16.5" x 20" . But I do plan on getting into bigger tanks once the funds are there cus I know my BGK will get big. Do they normally grow slow cus I've had mine two years now and he's only grown maybe 3"?

Tetras are also the fav food of BGK's.

But I've had these neons for four months already with the BGK and none have dissappeared so far. Are they just lucky?

Feed it meaty foods such as worms and market shrimp or power feed it. But always skip on feeding it. (ex: power feed it today, don't feed it tomorrow, power feed it the next day...)

Well now that I've had my senegal for a little more than a week I'll update the situation. Since it's addition I've lost about three neons but I'm not worried about that. If they get caught then it's just meant to be. Two of my mollies died of sickness but w/e. This morning though I woke up to a dead betta. I was not too happy about that since he was my favorite crown-tail (red with black tips) but what can I do I guess. Trade one sweet fish for another. Didn't think a betta would be at risk but oh well.

Nother question though, with all the loses in this tank I was thinking about maybe a needle fish for a replacement. Figuring since it stays at the top it would be safe. Any know how compatible they'll be?

Thanks for the help!

Well I'm not sure now because it's at my local petsmart. It's not the hujeta that much I'm sure of but ya the sign just says needle fish. I'll look more into it tonight though.

Alright sounds good. The petsmart here in town usually has a few so I think I'll swing by sunday night and pick one up. Thanks for the help again.
