would a black ghost knife work with a few severums, a true parrot, few bichirs and syno cats?

might be iffy with the bichirs (depends on whether they are nippy or not) but should be fine with the others in your stock list though iv never had a true parrot so dont know what their personalities are like, just make sure hes got hidy holes to get away is he wants

tank size? I would imagine they're would be some fighting between the bgk and the bichirs.

my bichirs are senegal and palmas, ive never seen them bother anyone, i dont keep the lower jaw species

hmmm, i dont know dont have experience with them but when i asked about this set up (wanted to get an ornate, which is an upper-jaw bichir) i got the consensus that these were very nippy and would at the very least nip at the BGK fins, but i dont know about the senegal and palmas if they are pretty chill it may work out, as midas asked the tank size will be a big issue as well, if your tank is big enough it may work (after all you never know until you try) just make sure theres plenty of hidy holes

GOOD LUCK!

its a 125 gallon, with plans to get a 300 wide so i think it would be ok. this may sound wierd, and i think it is, ive kept lots of bichirs, upper jaws only, senegal, various member of the palmas comlex, delhezi, ornate, weeskii and i have yet to find a bichir with the least bit of agression, i had them with zebra danios and they never got eaten, has anyone else had this experiece, totally community tank bichirs, i think my bichirs are the least aggresive fish i have in there, less so than the severums, anyone else have this????? oh, and they are about 9 inches long right now, my bichirs

I would say yes. They have been kept with cichlids before, and the same goes with Bichirs, however Bichirs can be pretty nasty sometimes. They would be my only worry. It would def. be something to have to watch to make sure nothing goes wrong. A backup plan will be needed just in case.
Good luck!

oh ok well if they are that calm than i would def try it in your tank, (im currently setting up my 125 with semi aggressive/agressive cichlids and want to try a BGK so we will be experimenting together lol) but if your bichirs are 9in then you def need to make sure the BGK has some size on him as well

Heres to Hoping Everything Works Out!

I had a 10~12" BGK in with an adult breeding pair of Dempseys (m-8", F-6")... When the Dempseys fry became free swimming the BGK assulted the pair, very confidently battled both parents while eating every one of the free swimmers over the course of 30~45 minutes...

Both parents were extremely stressed with a couple minor wounds... the BGK swam away full and without a scratch...

I've kept BGKs with Cichlids for many years... in my experience they are highly underrated at "defending" themselves...

I would add though, they need a place to peacefully 'rest' that does not leave them vulnerable to Cichlids or other aggressive tankmates. But when well rested and on guard, they are quite tough...

BGKs can fend for themselves quite well. Your Sevs are perfectly fine with a BGK. I don't have any experience with True Parrots, but I've heard that they can be a bit aggressive. I currently have Bichirs and a BGK in the same tank and they don't bother one another. The only Bichir that you may have to be be concerned over is an Ornate. They seem to be the most aggressive of all the Polys and tend to be more aggressive with other Ornates more than other species. As for the the Syno Cat...depends on what species it is, but most tend to keep to themselves and not bother anyone. Just make sure that there is plenty of hiding spaces for the Syno, Bichirs, and BGK.
