Im supper excited to get my Black Ghost Knife this weekend after 3 weeks of waiting. This is my first time owning one does any one have any tips from there experience of owning one of these little guys.

You'll see more activity in the dark, this species is nocturnal. I suggest when attempting to feed it for the first time, to try it in low light as it will be more inclined to eat.

alright ill feed him in the early mornings and at nights. Would you reccomment that I take out the light bulb on one half of the tank so its darker and put alot more plants on that side. Also when introduceing hime to his new home for the first time should I take the other fish out so he can venture around the tank.

Taking the other fish out would just stress them out...You could take out the light bulb on one half of the tank so its darker, its up to you. Be sure to provide plenty of hiding spaces & plants for your BGK as they love to hide and they love plants. Feeding your BGK should be a mix of brine shrimp, bloodworms, blackworms and other meaty frozen foods. :D

+1, and don't need to take your other fish out, they will get used to it's presence in the tank.

If possible add him to his new tank with the lights off. When ever possible I add my new nocturnal additions at night. I have a BGK in my 360 and it hides behind the background all day. I only see him with a flashlight at night when he's looking for food. They eat anything meaty. I can post up pics of mine eating Tilapia fillet but I don't want to hijack your thread. Good luck with your new monster!

This is a very good idea.

Alright thank you all for the advice ill try to take a picture and post on here but from what everyone is saying that may be a little of a challenge :). Its also fine if you want to post pics on here of your fish Egon I dont mind.

U could put a clear PVC tube for him to use as a hideout and that way u can always see it. I place caves facing the front of the tank so even if they're hiding inside I can see them. If they don't eat during the day throw in a little bit of food at night when it's pitch black dark for a week so he can get use to the food and then start skipping 2 - 3 days on night feedings and placing food infront of his hideout. don't change anything in the tank while he's there for a couple of weeks so he can get comfy and don't do any large wc for a week or 2 so u don't freak him out again. 10 - 20 % is ok. After a couple of weeks or whenever u see that he's comfy u can go back to whatever u used to do usually.

they grow fast if you take good care of them. My freind put a 3 incher in his 55 for a grow out. 6 months later the little guy was closer to 8 or 9 inches and king of the tank.
