Friendly fish.

I have one with my jardini.

Whenever I feed the jar, this guy is always going around and eating the pellets. Very active fish.

Love the pictures. I think these fish are amazeing.. I went to the fish store today... and it turns out my little guy isnt so small. Im still going to get him but now im struggling to get a bigger tank set up because I dont think he will have a whole lot of room in my 20g. *sigh* I wont beable to get him for another 2-3 weeks :(

Egon what type of sand or gravel do you have on the bottom of your tank?

I have mine in my 29g atm, as long as you can get it a new tank in a couple of months it should be fine; mine is going in a 90g by december, it's about 3.5" right now.

after a while ( mine took a month) it will start coming out more and more in the day time. they love to hide in plants. you can feed them earth worms, shrimp, dragon fly larvae, crickets, lancefish, blood worm, flakes, pellets. mine will even go for cucumber. personalities differ from one fish to another. they can be hand fed.

don't just feed it frozen bloodworms.. biggest mistake most first time knife owners make.. like suggested above and seen from Egons tank... feed a variety of foods if you want it to thrive. def also suggest adding him at night or with all the lights off for the day. If you liek a more natural look I always use driftwood for a hide spots for my knife ( different species but also very nocturnal) and he has his spot where he chills most the day. I just have it set-up so I can readily view him. I would also suggest locating some live black worms... if he doesn't settle in an eat after a few days these are imo the best food to offer to get a knife eating.

So can I feed him raw human food sometimes like steak or hamburger etc.. and would it be good to give him some small feeder fish as well for like a little treat. Im not saying make it a daily think but like once every few months or so.

Human food like: raw fish, shrimp, blood worms.......... That's good for the BGK.
