Smaller water changes are better than large ones. For one, catching and then moving the fish and have it swimming in a smaller small space for a couple of hours is very stressful. Another is that the chemistry of the new water would be different from the old water. Your fish could die if it the changes in water chemistry are too great. Also if your rinsing gravel, some of the beneficial bacteria living in it can also die depending on how you clean it. A weekly water change of 25% would be better than a one month 100% change.

actually, I agree. But my dad wants to do it. Maybe I'll ask to do it myself. All I have to do is take water vacum tube thing, and suck water out with it, right? also, it helps to stick the vacum tube in the gravel to suck dirty things out of the gravel, right?

I saw that as well..100% water change and I gasped. I was thinking the same thing. 100% different water there is no way that fish will survive.
