i was googling on where to buy more bichir and if there were some exotic ones {rare or not on sale} and i found this JP link, which had some interesting Pictures of Bichir, but, the size is about a whole Arm, anyone that read japanese and knows if these are Real?

yes they are real, since some species do get this big (biggest recorded bichir is congicus, 38". Another species is supposedly bigger, though not yet confirmed). And when it is one of the wide body species, that just makes it look that much bigger.

whats frustrating though is that in aquarium they typically can't reach their max recorded size.

btw i think the one in the pic you posted is about 28" give or take.

do they sell this kinds of species{import cus im guessing they are not Found IN USA} or are they illegal in USA?

of course. in fact, US was the second country thats able to import ansorgii as far as i can tell (japan was first). here are some pics of mine. 9"-10" in the pics.

to be honest, i don't ever see mine growing to that monster size, ever. i would be happy if mine would just grow somewhat big. if you want to grow a bichir out to big size, congicus is still the best bet. Even so, its frustrating that most bichirs just can't reach their max recorded size in aquarium.

anyway, toyin (rehoboth aquatics) is still the only importer of ansorgii in the US. he imported the first specimen in Oct 2006. A little while ago, he had some in the 27"-29" range. the biggest he has now is in the 13"-17" range. ansorgii is still the most expensive of all the bichir species available in the US. And it is one of the three holy grails of bichirs (P. bichir bichir, P. ansorgii, P. teugelsi).
