I go with this theory if it fits in there mouth fish will eat anything proven on vacation when i saw a school of large mouth bass younglings and my Uncle had spit in the water the school of bass began a feeding frenzy on the floating spit. But in a bit of humor the fish spit it out afterward hopefully they learned my uncle is as nasty as we know him to be.

I've seen my Pacu eat her own poop, so it could be much worse, trust me.

However, could this be a sign that you're overfeeding your rays, or feeding foods with way too much protein? For example, cats will eat a LOT of protein, but they can't digest it all, so most of it comes out the other end, and then dogs eat it because of the protein. If your bichir ate the poop it's probably because it still contains a lot of protein...

i definitely don't over feed my stingrays...!!! but i do feed them a lot of proteins...

their diet consists of:

25% pellets
25% prawn
25% mysis shrimp
25% earth worm

and i have white cloud minnows in the tank for who ever is in the mood for a chase.

most people feed like 75% pellets but if i do that they just don't eat all of them. so i gotta ration everything.

for example ill feed them mysis in the morning and earthworms in the night. then the next day ill just give them pellets 24 hours after their last meal. that way their extra hungry and they will go crazy for the pellets; especially if the pellets have been marinated in mysis shrimp for 10 mins.
