idk if its' cloudy eye cause that wouldn't effect the pupil would it? it would only make the eye cloudy (self explanatory), but i'm gonna go through the cloudy eye threads now and see if if also changed the pupil size

the pupil size changes when the fish's eyes are actually damaged from the cloudy. The early stages of cloudy eye doesn't cause any deformations. My bichir had it in early occasions long ago.

Thanks lix! Will it ever go back to normal?

Add aquarium salt according to intructions and do a 50% water change before it's too late. If the cloudy eye is left too long, the bichir will be permanantly blinded or the eyes will be damaged.

its not cloudy eye. nothing to do with water quality, i had a gatf with it before. its from an injury or birth defect. have they had it the entire time you have had them? or did it just happen all of a sudden? nothing you can do about it. impossible to fix with chems let alone salt. i tried everything i could. he could see shadows from that side but not small stuff like pellets. heres a pic of the gatf with it. it shows both pupils. it was attacked by another gatf and it was poked by a tooth. wont harm your fish as long as theres no interior cloudyness. just doesnt look as nice as a perfect fish unless u are into the whole pirate thing. the pupil of the bichir does look damaged but the entire eye itself looks cloudy. It might be too late to change anyways.
