Who the plec or the gt?or both?
How big are the plec and gt and have you noticed the gt being aggressive to the poly as i dont think either are very good tankmates but you NEED to take the plec out NOW.

Steve

So that returns us to my question, will the 2g be fine short term? He is about 4".

Great news guys! He is chewing on pellets, but he spits them out. Much more aggressive towards his reflection. Still staying on the right side of the tank. Loves earth worms.

so guys i have a the choice to try to get him onto carnivore pellets or to start breeding earthworms.

Whats the dimensions of the 2g,its probably not big enough for the plec but did you say short term?
Whichever way you do it just take the plec out,if you intend getting rid then why the wait or are you buying another bigger tank for the plec etc.
Make sure you break the pellets up into smaller pieces, mine will try and eat whole ones but make it easier for him to start to eat them.

cheers steve

The tank is about a foot long, 6 wide and 8 tall, maybe more or less. It is two gallons, not ideal for the pleco. I don't plan on upgrading tank size for another few years.

It will start eating pellets eventually. I feed mine sinking cichlid pellets, he's about 8" now. Carnivore pellets are way overpriced, hikari cichlid gold is cheap though, and I use xtreme cichlid sticks too.

I keep mine with a GT too, who is similar length, but much more mass of course. I toss in a small handful of pellets and the delhezi is able to get several, while the pike cichlid and GT eat the rest.

You need to get rid of the pleco though. A divider would work.

Happy for you buddy,BUT have you took the plec out yet?

Earthworm breeding farm failed, was adding water to keep the soil saturated and the water froze overnight . The fish are healthy and super colorful, bichir included. Still eating pellets. Now he eats them whether they are moving or not :headbang2 I have moved the pleco to the 2g, he seems happy and healthy, and ate all my annoying algae :headbang2 but :chillpill: because i am moving him to my friends huge pond.

No probs bud, glad its working out for ya:headbang2
