My ornates have had almost nothing but shrimp and (mostly) HBH super cichlid sinkers. They've grown like mad, look great, and take all sorts of food now.
Thanks, but I was looking for more species/genus specific information. After reading another sticky about feeding live feeders, the fat content of foods has started to concern me.
Read that sticky again. It was mainly involved with feeding goldfish, salmon and catfish to SALTWATER fish, and the problems it can cause. Freshwater fish have been eating other freshwater fish for as long as there have been freshwater fish. Now, you should still be concerned with giving a balanced diet (best done with varied feeds) and making sure the feeders are gut loaded and healthy.
