Hi, I just found this forum, and pardon me for not introducing myself, or my tanks but I have a huge emergency.

I came home to find my small Senagal Bichir with my now deceased Chinese Algae Eater sticking out of his mouth. Looked like he bit off more than he could handle. I got the Algae Eater from his mouth and put the bichir back in the tank. He's swimming oddly and sometimes sitting on the bottom of the tank, gasping. Is he a goner?? He's my favorite.

Thank you again.

It could just be stress, how big was the bichir and the algae eater? Mine did the same but got it down before i could stop it.

welcome to mfk
about that birchir
what kind is he just wondering?
my friend has had 2 of his birchirs die to something like that
sounds like he chocked
sorry but most of the time they dont make it
but scince you caught him while he was still alive he might be ok
its a 50/50 chance
idk i would have to see some pics

When i went back after letting the bichir out i went wheres the algae eater? And saw my bichir all fat and happy.
