Hello, so I have bought a small bichir endlicheri (3 inches) to go in my 220g on the advice of my lfs...They are normally really good so I trust them. But I am slightly worried now that I have done my research (I normally never by a fish till I know all about it, but they didn't have the ornate I wanted) that they are bloody huge!? Have I made a terrible mistake or will he be okay in my 7x2x2?

Also what is the maximum evidenced size (as you own one that size or have physically seen one) in a home aquarium? Thanks again.

Since it's probably CB it shouldn't get more than 20". Your tank size should be perfectly fine. I think the largest I've seen is around 30"

CB? Captive bred? Cool 20" will be ideal.. Most of my fish get really big so we'll see what I can do. Do they grow fast? As he is tiny at the minute.

They grow pretty fast web they're small, but once they hit 10"-12" (give or take a few inches) they slow down. It'll take home a couple years+ to hit 20". Assuming he even does. With the genes in these CB now a days there's no telling what kind of growth rate, max size, etc.., you could get out of one.
