i run was running the bio wheel pro60's on all my canister filters on the returns at one point... ive dropped alot of fish so i longer do this but it was a great addition....
Don't like the Biowheel, only because it leaves a huge gap Bichirs can escape out of and I haven't figured out how to block it up yet. This makes me nervous....lol.
I use plastic screening (from aquaticeco) to fill the gaps of the bio-wheels. It's moldable (to make it concave in the gap) and readily connects to the plastic cover with plastic cement (sold for pvc/abs plastics). It's the same screening used for fish boxes in hatcheries so, it'll stand up to jumping polys.
I would use the Bio wheel when dureing water changes when the water gets stirred up it removes all the large particles so you don't have to change the filters in the canister as often
What kind of canister BTW
Also the current from the Bio wheel helps prevent them from jumping just make sure the sides around it are covered
