how fast do a bichir grow as ive had mine 12 days and hes doubled in size is this normal?

LOL its probably not doubled but it can seem like it.Assuming you have a Polypterus senegalus they can have a fantastic growth rate as much as an inch to an inch and a half per month till they reach 7-9 inches then it tends to slow-Anne

maybe it had too much to eat, its kinda impossible to grow that fast in less than a month

maybe your right i feed it market prawns, shrimp eggs, bloodworm, mealworms,cockles, catfish pellets, so probley it just fat from the foods

Then, what's the max size for a senegalus? I read an article and it says upto 12" only. So i just want to know if they can grow longer than a foot.

ya i feed mine pices of night crawlers and he almost doubled in a month. but it has slowed down now. i think when ther very little like 3" or so they can grow fast if u power feed them but it will start to slow down

Generaly 10-12inches is the maximum you might find one slightly bigger but it would be a rare fish-Anne
