why would people still asking this?????your answer has been answered by so many similar post in this forum, use the search bottom, or read those stickies which have been made by our seniors, that's what it is for. You need to read them if you wanna know anything about bichirs, otherwise you would end up with dead bichirs.

Like everyone else has said basically is it such a big deal to have one more thread.

If you see another thread asking about tank size and what polys can go in just simply don't read it! Or if you do just post something helpful, not like what you wrote above. Had this been a new member (like I was when I was put in the same position) I believe they would consider whether or not they want to be on this site. Especially if it is this kind of response they are getting. Rude buddy, just rude.

What are the dimensions of the 55,because if you can get one with a bigger footprint instead of being tall, the more floor space the better for your polys,i agree that you should read the stickys when you can because they have some great info and do probably cut down on the number of duplicate threads, but as ive always been told,if in doubt, ask!

The dimensions are 48"X13"X21"

I think the 13" is going to be a problem,i take it you already have the tank?
It will be ok for a while but will need upgrading eventually.

Steve

I don't have the tank yet, that's why I'm asking now. I'm trying to plan the stock for when I get the tank. I can't have it right now because my Dad and I sold our house, and we're in a hotel right now trying to find a new place to live.

mandatory means enforced by rules. there's no rule that is enforced that says People MUST read the stickies. ;)

to make this more clear, something that is mandatory on MFK would be, no swearing or posting pornography.

Stickies are a choice by all, no one is making anyone read them, therefore they are NOT mandatory.

mm I am new member here, and I've joined similar forum like this in other website, I think is the arowana one. Stickies are very useful, and I think everybody should read them, therefor I agree with Garniac.

i never once said the stickies were not useful. they are useful but they are certainly not mandatory to read.

like i said early, something that is mandatory, is something that is enforced by rules. there's no rule that states that stickies MUST be read. therefore, they are not mandatory.

u can agree with whatever u want, it doesn't make it true. the mandatory thing is ridiculous, that word was used out of context. the meaning must of slipped the mind of Garniac, hopefully it hasn't slipped yours too.

I dont think he means mandatory is a must at that time, I think the right word for it would be a 'should', just remember that there are people from all over the world who joins this forum, and each may not have a good English. I dont either, but I do understand the word Mandatory. I can understand why he posted that comment, not that I back him up though, and I agree he was a bit rude;). But stickies are very useful, and most of the general questions are already answered in there. There is no need to attack anybody with those writings of yours, cause I dont mean to argue with you.
It is sometimes annoying to see similar post over and over again, well, I dont read them sometimes, it just happen that I came across this one, and I think there a poin in it. Well if you are happy to answer this kind of post then of course you are welcome to do so, but as far as I've seen it you have not even answer the question just yet, but instead you decided to take this deeper. On the otherside Garniac already gave some answers, there were links that he posted. And I certainly hope that we could get help from people with more experience than us.
I keep bichirs as well, I have endlis in my tank, I know that endli requires a big tank, but for smaller tank I recommend sens, albino sens, or delhezy.
