Bichir is swimming near surface, do i need to worry?

Ok cool.. i was worried because i remember reading it somewhere that says "if a bottom dweller starts swimming at surface it may indicates oxygen depletion in the water"... hence im asking, plus since having him like 2 months ago it is the very first time i see him swimming actively near the surface that long.. normally he is just chillin and cruising at the bottom with rays.

It has been in the tank with aro pbass and others for these past 3 weeks. The aro is like 30cm, the biggest pbass is like 25cm and the bichir is about 18cm, so they are about the same size so i hope it will go well hehe

Smaller bichirs are more active, they start to become logs when they grow bigger.

It is true that LJ are more sedentary than UJ. UJ tends to be more active than LJ but depends on the species and individual. I noticed that CB endlis are active compared to WC endli. I also noticed that koloton are more active than my nigerian laps. So it really depends on the individual fish.

Prdon me whats LJ & UJ?
And whats WC and CB endli?

Lj means lower jaw. Uj means upper jaw....in regards to polypterus.

Wc means wild caught. Cb means captive bread. Tr means tank raised. Endli is for endlicheri.

I disagree. Godzilla was still my most active bichir. It was also my largest bichir. But yeah like you said, depends on individual fish.
