I would treat an ornate as a lower jaw. Same with teugelsi and weeksii which are also the larger upper jaws. Ornates can be nasty toward smaller tankmates.
Im gonna do as i thought origionally, to keep the sizing relatively close. That seems safer to me.I would treat an ornate as a lower jaw. Same with teugelsi and weeksii which are also the larger upper jaws. Ornates can be nasty toward smaller tankmates.
As i had stated b4, i wanted to build a plywood tank (i like building stuff) and was doing some measurements today (the window placements here mess up good wall spacing
) I can build a 5'x3'x2' (220g-225g) that would fit perfectly in my LR. In it id like to put 1- leucistic senegal, 1- beutikifori, 1- delhezi and 1- P. palmas. These are all the upper jaws i like (with exception to the ornate)
I think this tank would be more than good for these 4, but what if i added the ornate? (Thus keeping all the UJ's together) would this idea be ok or would the ornate be better with the LJ's?
That is a big tank for those few smaller sized polys. You could just go with a group of lower jaws in that....
I know its a sizable tank for them, the size was set on the measurements of a somewhat odd corner (i call it the useless corner) of my LR. Ill most likely refine it down a bit for them because theres a reason for "just those 4" to be kept seperated and in my LR.
I wanted to point out for you...
Leucistic is not albino. Leucistic is the absence of color in a standard species, albino is a genetic elimination. Albinos always have red eyes, leucistic have eyes charicteristic of its species. Thats the dead give away between the two. Albinos are prone to poorer health and higher suseptability to disease and always smaller than normal. Leucistics are just as healthy and size appropriate as typicals, they just lack the color. Most leucistics even hold their patterning (or much of it) it will usually come out in a yellowish/orange color.
Years of keeping different snakes and reps taught me this
The leucictic senegal (or albino) tend to stay on the small side. I think the largest Ive ever seen in person only got to 8". The rest of your wish list of uppers are likely going to be in the 10-12" full grown size range with the possibility of an excetinal individula which may go a bit bigger.
Really no difference starting with upper or lower jaw in my opinion. Some thing else I was thinking was activity levels and shyness. Some polys are shy compared to others and just are lumps and others are much more active. I found the sens and dels pretty active while my gold dust and p. palmas were a bit more reclusive. In my lower jaws, I find the endli pretty active along with the koliba lap.
Lol. I dont have any and i want more lol. Im just trying to contain my wants to a starting point b4 i go getting a poly carpetAll this poly talk makes me want to get more! lol
LOL! NODMD123 you should get a ornate, lolz
The teugelsi is (in my opinion) is a much prettier fish. Id only go with the weeksii if ur intent is a 30" wc.LOL! NO
If another poly comes my way it will be a wc teugelsi which would replace my captive born or a pbb which would replace one or both laps.

Is it good or bad to keep UJ's and LJ's together? keeping the sizeing to within 3" of each other of course. From the sounds of it, the LJ's seem to be a bit more aggressive (could be me, but thats what im getting )
