Bichir only tanks

I like sand over rock, but im scepticle of colored sand in a tank. I like that imperial red substrate myself. Do u know if the colored sand is ok?

I don't like fine sand so I use CaribSea Peace River. Its the perfect sized grain without getting to big or small. Nice natural color. But they say red makes the polys pop

I hate the use of common names like that. The 'red' really does not describe the fishes true coloration at all. Pretty much most endli show toward tan/brown or gray and really not a true red.
Might just be me being new (or picky lol) but i dont care for the common names either. Too many miscommunications. Call it what it is. To many street names used for them and it creates confusion. Ive noticed this quite a bit while paroozing info. Even i as a newbie could tell a guy had a delhezi and not an ornate, but he argued it using street names. Was glad when they finally got him strait so he knew why his "ornate" hadnt grown but an inch in 4 months. You'ld think that he would know its type when he bought it.

I got peace river in my 55. Nice light tan color. I would like to have red substrait though

Red garnet way to go IF you can find it. Stuff out now seem purple and looks fake even though its a natural product.

3M used to make a color quartz sand but I think its now made by Estes. Its a product that would be used for things like lining swimming pools. Lots of colors including reds

Thanks, ill look into it.
Thinking on this... with fish in this size caliber 9+" is there much of a difference in using gravel over sand? I always used sand so that bottom feeders wouldnt have to dig their face in the gravel or accidentally injest a rock.
Poly's lay about alot, and i thought sand would be much softer and more comfy for them.
Cleaning isnt an issue for me, im picky about my pets and they always get top billing. If being sure to keep gravel cleaned of food debris is the only thing, i may consider it
