Milky Way Galaxy,
Hey guys i want to put in a bichir in my pond. its heated to 74F and i plan on feeding him mealworms and frozen blood worms. He will be in their with a 8" RTC and if i get him the bichir will be 4-6". Will this be ok?

no, the rtc will eat the bichir sooner or later. Dont get the RTC anyways, they are not as fun as a bunch of bichirs.

yeah. rtc will eat the bichir.

aww =[ its k i can put a bichir in my other pond am making...

your 13 and you parents let you build ponds?

Mealworms and frozen bloodworms. Any plans on future diets? Also 74F, you may have a big pond but the temp will only stress the bichirs if keep in there. Even at 75-77F they hardy eat. You'll end up with a skinny and stunted bichir even in that big pond. Unless you can hit the pond up to 79-82F then you'll have a nice huge bichirs in the near future.

Ok, mealworms, frozen blood worms & earthworms? the earthworms from the fishing store is ok? So 85F i'll heat it to. LET THE POND BUILDING BEGIN!!

I agree, the rtc will eat them. There is a decorative pond in Chinatown, where they have quite a few bichirs. I believe it isn't heated. Some how they seem to be doing just fine. Good Luck!

more like massivore delights and other foods enriched with protein. blood worms are only about 8% protein. so now your doing an alligator gar? i hope you build a BIG pond.

Yes they do just fine in upper sub-tropical temps but how fine are they really in the long ran? They can survive temps even at 60F, but for life it's not good for them.
