Bichir pooping red stuff out of his face?

I looed in my aquarium today, and saw one of my bichirs was "pooping" red stuff out of his face. its coming out of his head by his nose like poop, but its red. It doesn't seem alive or anything. Any idea what this is?

To be safe, i tossed him in a sick tank. He doesn't like the lack of room, but he will have to deal with it.

whatevers coming out doesnt seem to be alive, or isnt moving at least. its almost like a weird tube of blood

It's possible it could be a clot if it passed through it's nostral.

I agree it looks like a blood worm; have you fed him any lately? If it was even a few days ago maybe it got caught somewhere in it's nose. If it isn't that I would guess it's a parasite...

Ive never fed him or any of his tankmates blood worms.
