bichir/ ropefish compatability?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yay, ropes! :) That's a huge score - albino vs. platinum.

No. But I'd get 3+ ropes they are social with their own kind.
Yeah, as you can see per beau1990 beau1990 's pics they are always together. They'll be happier and more out and about with a group. In a 100 gallon I'd personally get like 5-6 of them. That's a 5 foot long tank, right?

Sorry I should have been clearer - I meant that comment toward Sarahmander... I know you're upgrading. :)
It's more like 4ft... taller than I would like, but it was a gift. I already have 1 del and 3 sen and I think i would worry about my water quality with 5+ ropes... maybe i am underestimating the power of a sump? I might get a palmas instead.

Palmas is ok but hide all the time. Get a polli if you plan on something like that. But as magpie magpie said and I was afraid to push you to too many ropes but 5 or more would be better then a single Palmas. The beauty of the sump is you can get a greater water volume and add more biological filtration to cope with a larger bio load. If need to upgrade in filter size just get a larger container to be your sump. If you arent worried about noise make a wet dry mine handles a ton with out missing a beat. Ive never had issues with ammonia or nitrite. Nitrate is different but large wc fixes that.

And as always Loki’s patrolling his kingdom I love these guys. It’s weird the two smaller ropes tend to stick together and Gucci is usually not to far behind if not right there with them ; meanwhile the largest (seen below Loki) tends to chill with Loki

With all the ropes I have they tend to pair off and do their own things alot but when a couple groups get out and about they all come to the party. There are 3 or 4 places they like to group up and usually you will see two or three heads poking out.
