Why would you put chicken bone on there? Thats an awful idea

I'd go ballistic if someone dropped something like that in my tank. I hope OP gave his cousin an earful.

so as i told it was my cousin who put bone and he is only 2... he was eatin and all of a sudden he put the bone in... if it was smaller the poly wuld hav swallowed and if it was bigger he wuld hav left it alone...

How long has it been like this? I suppose you could try to take it out; I've heard of people doing things like that but I think usually that's when the item is sticking out enough to get a hold of. If it hasn't been too long you might wait to see if he can cough it up; as long as he is breathing well.

the item is not sticking out... mouth is completely closed... he is breathing, he looks fine... it has been there for abt 23hrs.. i think i better wait sometime

i would wait until he starts showing really bad signs. All that taking it out does it cause more stress and it'll start to frantically move around. A couple things could happen he could move so much that it's almost impossible to get it out, or he could move so much he lodges the bone somewhere it shouldn't be, and all that does is cause complications. I would wait a little bit, you could put him in QT or something so that you can constantly monitor him. I would wait about 2-3 days then feed a small amount then wait another couple days to see if there is a blockage. Also i would put him on a bare bottom tank so that you can examine his waste and see if he maybe was able to get it out.

I slapped my cousin twice when he was being stupid during a Bills (football) game for putting a damn piece of grilled tuna steak in my tank... then explained it might have killed my fish and he apologized up and down... then again your cousin is 2 and not an adult whose excuse was I'm drunk.

I would go with the tweezer plan.. if its left in there too long the bichirs body may start to develop around it and it'll be stuck for good. As long as it can breath and eat certain foods it would live for a while but not full span. Looks like the baby picked the perfect piece of bone up though, if he swallowed it I don't think a bichir could break down chicken bone and it would kill him that way
