When I was going through my channa phase I used to keep species only tanks, which was the ideal setup for them. When freak thunderstorms led to spawning activity between my male and female pbb specimens (documented here:http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=284942&page=7) I was inspired to create a species only tank for them as well. It was obvious during that time that my female wasn't ready at 18" so I set out to find more mature specimens.
After a PBB dryspell that lasted for almost a year, the floodgates opened around 4 or 5 months ago and I was able to attain the specimens that I needed. Here is my PBB community tank, there are 10 PBB's in there ranging from 18-22" with a couple females on the larger side of that spectrum.
The substrate color isn't ideal to bring out their colors and contrast (display purposes) but that isn't my goal with this type of setup. Since the tank is setup this way and since all of these pics are from my cp means that these are mostly crappy shots, so pardon me in advance. Looking forward to find out if anything will transpire this rainy season:
