My Ansorgii Hybrid thats around 13"-14" smashed the tank heater a few days ago freaking out just like that. Had to buy another one, plus pick pieces out of the tank and a few water changes to get anything toxic released by the inside of the heater.

I had a palmas polli hit a piece of drift wood so hard it knocked her out cold. I thought she was dead as she floated down to the bottom and lay there on her side for almost a minute but then she righted herself and started swimming again.
