bichir with oscars?

would it be ok to put several senegal bichir with some oscars in a 180g tank?

so far all i was gonna put in the tank was 4 oscars, but i think some bichir would add nicely to it. i mean do i need a certain amount to make sure theres no aggression between the bichir?

It should be okay, but depending on how big the oscars are compared to the sen, you might have to watch so it doesn't get eaten.

He never said anything about a senegal....


As long as the bichir is large enough that it won't get eaten, it should work. In a 180 you could get the bigger species of bichirs too.

do the bichirs grow slower than some oscars would? the oscars wouldnt be very big starting out. i mean arent bichir aggressive towards others of the same species? would i need like 4 or 5 to lessen out aggressiveness. the tank is going to be 180g.

i could, id go with 2 larger ones then. but my vision was dark tiling, some albino senegal bichir and albino tiger oscars. i love me a good contrast. and i did mention senegal in my first thread btw.

*makes picture frame with hands, while squinting eye thru the frame* can you see it? lol. ive pretty much decided to go barebottom for all my tanks to take a load off of myself. but ive decided to be tiling all my tanks. ive seen this done with bichir and it looked amazing and just as easy to clean.

get those lower jaw poly, it will increase ur chance.

can you suggest some other species or a specific name for that? like spotted or ornate?

Oscars and Bichirs would be fine, but if you're going to start off with a large Oscar, then you need a large Poly. Endlis and/or Ornates would be good. Senegals would be ok, but I think that a robust Oscar would consider it a "big worm"

i used to have oscars w/ a senegal. it didnt work out for me. i had a couple 4in oscars with a 6in senegal, maybe youll have better luck with more polys.
