id like some of the bichirs that can get up to 2 feet.
There are several species whose max recorded size in the wild are >= 2ft, but only a few has the potential to reach 2ft size in captivity, and among those that are available would be ornate, P. endli endli and P. endli congicus. ansorgii may have the potential to do so too in captivity, logically speaking, but it's impossible to tell yet.

Back to the three above, keep in mind that they will take many years to get this big, unless you're lucky and have an individual with good genes, and it's not guaranteed that any individual you pick up will for sure reach that size, but you can generally expect 18"-24" for ornate and P. endli. endli. P. endli. congicus is the one with the best chance of getting 2ft or more.

and a final thing to keep in mind, bichir growth/growth rate do vary quite a bit between individuals of the same species.

ok. question for you. would i be able to keep many ornates in the tank? say like 4 or so?

it will realy depend on the size of your polys. but i done see why they wouldnt work.

i think im gonna do 4 ornate bichirs. i wasnt sure if i liked the looks of them, but i watched some videos of them and they look good. i hope the oscars dont pester them though.

You would be overstocked. I would do one oscar maybe a vieltail. A 180 isn't big, myself personally wouldn't even get an endli for a 180.
4 oscars alone is going to throw your bioload through the roof. 2 oscars an ornate, a couple delhezi and a senegal would be a nice tank for you. Maybe even throw in a nice size jack dempsey or a festae. You have to experiment I don't know how nice or territorial your O is so its hard to judge for ya.

ah yes i had a question ha sorry not trying to steal your forum here nitro but how big would the senegal have to be not to get eaten?
