didnt mean to offend anyone sorry about that, i want to work at a petshop because i know alot both reptiles and fish and am willing to work all the time, so a petshop would love to have me, but im not 16 yet. but the petsmart employees by me just got out of highschool and you can tell they couldnt care less about the fish. but how much does your petsmart sell the senagals for?

I work at Petsmart, and I am still in Highschool and I'm the Fish and Reptile guy, so please don't generalize. Ketamine, just so you know, it does say Polypterus senagalus on the thing at my store.

Buckeyenut222, you may be able to keep the Senegalus in the 55 for a few months and by the time he reaches a foot move him into a bigger tank. Just make sure you do lots of water changes!

i'd say a sengegalus is fine in a 55 gallon for life........they usually max out at around a foot and in my experience are not as fast of growers compared to other bichirs.......

so wat do bichirs eat? any special care i need to know?

Dude, bichirs are a hardy fish and they are mostly scavengers. You could try feeding them sinking pellets or worms. Some Bichirs like Ornates and Endi prefer live fish (although i'm not that sure).

Yeah I just checked ours are updated too, I guess we put updated tags on them when we got our new fish system.

I feed or rather fed mine frozen beef hearts, blood worms and mysis shrimp.

make sure your tank is either sand or bare bottom. cause they could accidentally eat a rock.
and they eat pretty much everything that sinks too the bottom i even had one of my little ones eat zuchinni
