can never go wrong with sens dels and palmas, retropinnis and mokelembembe could be another couple good choices, rarer and pricier though
Bichirs 101

i keep mine with a black ghost knife, several different catfish, cichlids, they are fine with fish that can either defend themselves or (more importantly) are able to just avoid the polypterus. DO NOT put them in a tank with anything that is really slow or has big wavy fins like betas. Also they see to like to eat the eyes of goldfish
Bichirs seem to get along ok with alot of fish I had never heard the problem with plecos but that is good to know. We have 2 bichirs a ornate in a 6' 160 with fronts and saddled in a 4x4 200 with red gouramis pike and a red devil, its funny some fish seem freaked out when a bichir swims up to them.
