Bichirs Aggression

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It varies, but usually settles out after dominance issues are settled. It's not unusual to see peaceful "poly piles" even with different species sometimes. Definitely more common with same or closely related species though.
Might want to look at sand or bare bottom, especially with little guys. They don't see too well and have been know to swallow gravel. If they aren't big enough to pass it, it's usually fatal(the other option is barfing it back up.)

As you already have some spots for hiding it is better to provide enough for all of them. In my case for example, I had 14 polys (5 endlis, 3 laps, 1 del, 2 alb, 1 sen, 1 retro and 1 ornate in the same tank but with no decoration at all. (bare tank)
I have never had any problems with agression, because there were no disputes among them. (no places to hide). The only incovenient occurs during feeding times, because the endlis are like an eating machine and in this case they grow faster and bigger than the others.
Will post some pics later... Today I have the 5 endlis with 1 retro, 1 alb and 1 sen in one tank and 3 laps, 1 alb, 1 ornate and 1 del in another. The main reason is the feeding problem...

Thank You for the replies guys :D Really appreciate it so much!

Kinda managed to keep the aggression level to 0. The lap was still biting both ornate and endli previously in the grow up tank. Left Endli alone instead to pump him up in the grow up tank.

As for Ornate and Lap, i put them in my main tank with datnoids. They are doing really really well. No aggression at all. Bare tank with 6 other datnoids in the tank, ranging from smallest 2 inches to biggest 6 inches. Doing really great. Have yet to see the ornate eat. Only lap. Gonna place ornate in the grow up tank to switch with endli once endli is all beefed up and ready to join in the comm.

Heres a pic of my endli in his grow up tank.
He is about 3-4 inches now.
From what i see, he seems like he is a semi shortbody Endlicheri?
Hope you guys like it :)
