Bichirs and Malawi Eye Biters

Never oned fronts or know any one who has, but everytime i see them in pics they are always on the bottom. are they always there? this will over crowd the bottom of the tank too much.
 
Yeah, they do tend to stay towards the middle to lower level of a tank. So you could start to get a bit crowded on the bottom if you added some fronts, but thats all up to you.
 
i am really looking at a duel species tank i.e. bichirs and a school of some other medium sized african fish.

not a fan of african butterfly fish myself.

I would be happy with more in there as I love the males' blue. All depends if it works.

I have had one yay and one nay. So will continue researching till I am sure.

If it were to work (hypothetically-for now), how many could I put with the bichirs? Filtration will be very good with sump and added fluidized bed filter as well as weekly 50-70% water changes.
 
How big is your tank?
 
I would say you could do about twelve D. compressiceps in your tank, give or take.
