hummmm, i dont know your worried about cleaning the glass ? should be ok with a bushy nose pleco... might be able to get away with it if no cats, dogs, kids....and tank is in a quiet place but i still would risk it. hummmm how to put this, would you be willing to risk say a stingray or arrowana in open top tank? sure it can be dun but why would you take that risk

Yah, I've decided against it.
I wouldn't know about the ray though, I'd imagine that would be fine, but no way with the arrow.

lol looked like that rope fish almost jumped getting air lol

Even with covers, they can still get out. I have a Senegal, 3 ornates and 4 rope fish that are sitting on my book shelf, varnished and preserved. All escapees, found dried on the floor over the years. I figured, I still got my moneys worth, and they make great convesation pieces.

no plecos. They'll eat the slime coat of the bichirs. You wil end up with a bichir that's shrivled INSIDE the tank.

My 65 gallon is open topped. 5 bichirs and 4 ropefish. Heavily planted paulidarium style. No escapes or attempted escapes for well over a year. The water level is 5" below the glass. The plants and hiding places give the fish a lot of security and eliminate any freak out episodes.

that's daring. Especially with the ropes. Guess they are too small the jump that high.

My delhezi always jumps from one divider from another which is super annoying. It always end with my large mouth bass.
