When I feed my poly I will put my hand in the tank and he will nip the tip of my finger and play a little. He also is all about his tank he doesn't have just one spot. He is still young though. My O on the other hand plays with a super bouncy ball that I have in her tank and my arm from time to time (usually when I am cleaning and she doesn't want me there, but that's not really playing).
My teugulsi likes to put its head at the fx5 out flow pipe. I was thinking maybe he thinks food will be "washed down" it similar to what would happen in a possible river setting? I am with Cohazard, my bichirs don't move around much other than feeding time. Only dehezi, teugulsi, and senegals do swim around other than to look for food, exploring.. from my experience in bichir keeping.
That gives me an idea. Get some of those remote control toy motor boats like the one below and tie some worms onto it, then just control it and make the boat go round and round
Interesting topic, i personally never thought abt putting in toys for my polys, as most of mine also seems happy just to chilling in a spot in the tank waiting for food. My ornate is a busy poly she is always swiming around when i go to tank.
I have an 80G and bought 2 of the red LED lit bubble sticks, they suction to the glass and I bury them just under the gravel. I have to re-submerge them every week or two because my Bichir constantly swims in 's' lines through the bubbles disrupting the lines and moving the gravel. When they are dislodged and floating at the top he is sedate and hangs in the drift wood, as soon as they're reset he is back in business! It is so enjoyable to watch him 'play'!!
