Bichirs at Petsmart

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the info. I think I will get two of them. I need to find some that are not small though so my cuda does not eat them. I think he ate one of my clown loaches today:(

hmm, never seen bichir and cuda together.....very interesting combo.

Good luck with that.

I feed mine frozen silversides, sinking pellets, and the occasional live worm.

beef heart and mussles are good to but i'd say 40 gal breeder is the minimum tank size and thay get 16'' max but useually only 12''
i've herd thay can be aggressive to other senegals but are fine with other polys but thay are fine on there own

yeah they are senegals

It is sad that Petsmart carries some of these fish that get so large. The workers are not educated about the fish and probably sell them to people who put them in 10 gallon tanks.

Anyways, my new one is 125 gallons, and I am looking for more fish to add, and I may go with these guys.

Are they ok alone? Are they ok in 2s?

I keep a pair of 9" senegals (one albino)in the same tank and they have seemed to pair up with each other. They also share the tank with an ornate, and a palmas, and every one leaves each other alone.

You guys don't think I could keep Bichir with a barracuda? I figured it would be fine as long as I find big enough Bichirs. Barracudas stay towards the top of the tank and Bichirs towards the bottom.

NO! absolutely DO keep your cuda with a bichir. I think it will work out marveleously, i was just saying that i've never seen those two together before.

but if you do see anything bad happening, just get a divider until you can figure out what to do permanently, but i really don't see why the cuda and bichir wouldn't get along.

:iagree:
this would work well as long as thay are of the same size the barracuda would stay at the top and the bichir mostly at the bottom but baracuda need a long tank as thay are very fast fish and hunt with speed and bichirs need a wide tank so if you have the right tank all is good

Yes the Barracuda is in a 125. He is about 5 inches long. I could not tell whether X24's reply about those two fish together was a sarcastic answer because of the use of capitals and exclaimation marks and the word marvelous:D But, since Killerfish agrees with him, maybe he was not being sarcastic after all.

What is a good price for a 5" long Senegal? An LFS has some for $40.
