Right now I have 4 really nice cichlids-Dovii, Trimac, Red Devil, and Barred Midas. They tend to ignore any fish that is too small or not a cichlid. Ex. my brother hadn't had his tank set up and put a Black Belt about 2 inches long in my tank (could have easily been eaten) they ignored it and it thrived in my tank. I used to have SD, Tinfoil Barbs, and Balas with them and they ignored them. The waste from the SD and others was too much so I got rid of them. So my question is will Poly. work and if so which kind do you recommend. Personally, I like Delhez., Ornate, and End. I really believe my cichlids would leave them be.

It's that or catfish, but I want something different.

what size tank do u have u could put a lima cat those are cool or a poly 00000

I have a 5 inch senegal in with my african mbuna tank. it has plenty of rockwork and it also has spaces he can fit into that do not allow the cichlids to follow....... so if aggression gets rough, he has a place of his own. but overall, he does well and has not eaten any cichlids

Hello,

take an Ornate ... due to his rapid growing it won't take long time he will love the ambience - food everywhere
Smaller species like senegals will work (with the exception of aggressive breeding behaviour of your cichlids - ALL polypterids don't like stress!!!), bigger species will love their tankmates to death. For my experience cichlids were eaten much more consequently than any other living fish in a bichir tank.

But it is your choice ... :nilly:

Greetings
Uwe
