Bichirs with Cories

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What kind of bichirs are stocked in the tank, and how big are they presently? Eventually one of them will take a serious run at a cory, especially if you have any lower jaw / larger upper jaw species.

I agree with those above who pointed out that there is risk to both fish in this scenario.

at the moment, the cories are big enough for the bichirs not to swallow them whole.

will try to comm them together for a while and see how it goes.
i've seen successful cases before. :chillpill:

I wouldn't risk it if I were you. This will only lead to the death of probably your bichirs and definitely your cories.

The polys will continue nipping at the cories.

As the polys grow its only going to get worse for the cories.

The cories will eventually dissapear.

my 10 inch ornate first killed and then tore to pieces a koi about 4 inches. they have strong jaws and teeth. avoid keeping cories.

I doubt it, certainly not long term. I can't think of a poly that stays small enough and a cory that grows large enough for that mix not to end in disaster.

Reedfish are polys, and would never get big enough to swallow a cory. :)

Corydoras aenus and senegalus can work for you, actually i have kept this combo for a while with out problems, but my senegalus are well feed and remember that polys are individuals so not sure if its the same with others.

Bichir and Ropefish = Polypteriformes
