Hello everyone , my first post on here i want to talk about bichirs! i want to see all of your guy's bichirs and i want to know the age / size , Tank size tank mates of them EVERYTHING there is always something new to learn! , and i would also want to see what you guys prefer Lower or upper jaw ? :) here is mine!

Got the ornate and del recently and had the lapra for 2-3 months now ! so far less activity from the lap which is expected. ornate being almost to active and del being about the perfect amount of activeness in my opinion, sadly the lapra did cannibalize which is my fault 100% , sadly lost 1x endli and senegal smaller ones about 5-6 inches :/

My lapra age = unknown bought in this size ( 27-28 cm / 11 inch )

Ornate = 1 year about 23 cm

Delhezi = 2.5 years 21 cm

Also got 2x 6-7 inches senegals but sadly couldnt get them all in the pic AND a black ghost knife in there :)

Very cool!
This is our new juvenile GWAR!

He/she Is an ornate... I think it's only a few months old cause it's only about 2 inches if that

It's currently by itself In a 40L by himself but we are currently renovating our one room to include two 200g tanks, one for Gwar and one for our knife fish and clown Loach school so don't worry he will not be In the 40 for long ?

He's super friendly and curious but VISCIOUS with blood worms, krill and other frozen shrimps and insects

Too small to know gender yet

But we love the little thing either way!!!

Are these a hardy species?
They look like they survive well!

Acording to youtube / google / websites about them they are very very hardy . but in my experience they werent all that hardy my top 3 tips would be sand substrate only , not to crazy tank mates ( by that i mean chill tank mates is prefered , that dont go crazy over food and swim around way to much ) like oscars for example i've tried them with and they are suggested as good tank mates for them But for ME that didnt work good at all and number 3 the upper jaw species really if you really want a smaller / more active / easier to feed bichir , the lower jaws if you ask me are really really lazy and CAN eat bichirs half its own size ( that i learned the hard way ^^ )

im sry if im a bit of a buzz kill but that is jsut my honest opinion , i might try bichirs later on in life and probaly dedicate a tank just for them but the ones i got didnt make it , and i had oscars , flowerhorn , plent of african cichlids , RTM ( parachromis ) bala sharks etc etc and really noone has ever passed for me i only had this much problems back when i first started with fish such as neon tetras and such .. :/
