What about some Cichla kelberi , I've heard they tend to stay on the smaller side. 18-20", so it might work for a 180.

I agree don't worry haha I would just rather have a jar and 2 tank mates regardless of what they were.

No it wouldn't. I have a 15" kelberi in a 315 (7x3x2) and anything smaller than a 6x3 footprint (265 g) would be cruel.

If possible in your area, get gold arowana, red would get to big. Gold will stay about 20". With black back, black galaxy tiles and the right lighting... The gold aro will literally bling. If the 180 is show tank with nice stand and canopy... it will be like a moving art work.
