nice fish but when you are ready to catch a big crappie let me know.I know a private lake where crappies average 20 inches.

 Average.....:screwy: As said, that pond would be famous. The Oklahoma Aquarium (I think that's where they were) had a crappie tank with the biggest I'd ever seen. The largest being right at 20", and documented as being an old fish. If you're a crappie guy (or gal), that tank is a must see!!

Nice catch man. I caught a 15" 2 years ago. I thought I had bass on line! When you go from averaging at around the min limit 9", 15 was a beast. It, btw, was the only one of the day as well, along with a couple dink channel cats.

my biggest is a 14" white weighing in at 1 lb 14 ounces.. i caught it when i was 9 through the ice.. it snapped the line when it got to the hole but i risked frostbite to get that ***** on my wall :D ill try to take a pic this weekend

I ate my 15", as I eat everything........Now I wish it were mounted...:(

14" is a nice fish. Crappies stay pretty small if they are in a lake thats pretty shallow. I'm lucky to see a 14" 2 or 3 times a year but they average 10-11" in my favorite lake which is a good eating size. I've had one that went 17" but I was young and dumb then and didn't know that would probibly be the biggest I would ever catch. As far as the record, there are many state records above 5# on these fish.
