Big Dovi Big Head in captivity? Anybody

He was born with a slight spinal curvature, which makes him look different. It really isn't that bad, and like you said, he is a nice fish. I don't think he is gonna max out in length like other dovii. His personality is great!

Not being able to max out at regular dovii size isn't too bad, you'll be able to house him in a smaller tank for life lol. Nice colors on him though.

Actually I'm kinda hoping he doesn't get too big. He eats well, but is only 11" and I've had him since he was 1.5" in June of 2007. I've noticed the curve in the spine since I first got him. He killed all the other fish that were in the tank with him when he and his tankmates were tiny.

If anyone has the opportunity, the DC zoo has some very large dovii with large nuchal hump. It is in the Amazonia section. Sorry I didnt take pics.

I have gotten some good growth on both of them, now I am fasting them a couple days a week. Those fish are a little over a year old.

I have a 12 inch male in the same tank, he is far more streamlined than the big male, he is also more spotted. I need to get some pictures of him, he is shyer than the big male.
