I have a close to 7 inch female jag housed with two small cats a pleco and a small pacu. I have what Petsmart sold me as a red Texas that's about 4 inches now and he's in my 20g grow out and was wondering if he would be safe with the the jag

How big is the other tank? I think it comes down to size of the tank and temperment of the jag. If in fact it is a texas I hear they are quite tough.

All depends on the fish. Some fish are more aggressive than others in the same species. Seems a little too small but it may work. I would try it, but be very watchful during the first few hours and be ready to take it out if the jag goes after it. I had an 8" jag beat the crap out of a 5" RTC once so they can be very aggressive.

I have a 5" texas... and he is a mean little sucker! Holds his own very well with 2 10"+ oscars and a 12" gar in a 180. I'd try it and watch it carefully.

I wouldn't.

the longer the jag owns the tank, the less chance of it working.but if it were me i would divide the tank, then they could experience each other.then plan to upgrade the tank soon.the jag will outgrow the 70 fast.when you upgrade they can go in as all new.50-50 shot of working
