i've had this same interesting and thought provoking debate in my classroom. as far as bigfoot, it's a tough call, but think of this... we have Native American folklore that speaks of a large, hairy, human-like figure in the northwest and we have similar descriptions of the same thing in the Himalayas but with white fur. so who knows? However, we should have found it by now, but I'd love for it to be true.
and as far as aliens go, we can look at it like this if we so choose: We live on a planet that is but a speck in it's own solar system. This solar system is dwarfed by it's own galaxy. This galaxy is tiny compared to it's own universe, and this universe has 2 other universes that we know of laying beside it. we're the only intelligent life-forms? as for these abductions... i doubt it but when we look at how small we really are in the grand scheme of things, it is almost laughable to think we are all alone. just food for thought
