Yeah I love the nw, I've been on 2 big trips and have attempted to climb to the top of mt st Helen's twice (weather prevented us once, succeeded the other time). Theres a reason why i want to go to u of o. Those little towns are really similar to the towns up north in California.

Of all the cryptozoological animals, Bigfoot has more evidence of its existence than any other, i am for the theory that it and the "chinese wild-man" are both evolutionary descendants of Gigantopithecus that crossed the Bering land bridge at some point in the past. Its one of the best theories to explain their existence. I went on a couple expeditions with the BFRO before they sold themselves out to animal planet and all the serious investigators left. Ive never see. One but i have gotten audio when i went on the trips, pretty cool stuff. I have loved cryptozoology since i was 8 and found out about Loch Ness. Now i have a bookshelf full of books on the subject

Very true, 1860s if i remember correctly, is when scientists finally agreed the giant squid was real. It may have been a few years later i cant remember exactly. I always remember the story of one scientist, id have to get my books to know the name, but he championed the idea of a giant squid. He got evidence and went around presenting it and no one believed him. He was ridiculed to the point of losing his job, reputation and ended up pretty much dying in a ditch. Then 10
Years later they found the first intact specimen that could be verified

I don't believe the gigantopithecus theory works out very well anymore. Early reports from the DNA study suggest their an ancestor of an early hominid hybrid, most likely homo heidelbergensis. The mitochondrial DNA comes back 99% human.
