i think there a restricted species in florida and they only stock the lake with females or males so they dont breed and there are signs alll around the lake that say removal of grass carp prohibited. but i couldnt help myself to tempting
Heh. They stock the lakes win florida with triploid grass carp. They are hit w/ a cold, hot, or electric shock to induce triploidy. Triploid fish are sterile. At 8-15 bucks for a foot long grass carp, they don't like people taking them. They are used really heavily in florida to cut down on vegetation. They are usually stocked @ 2 - 3 fish per acre.
