Big IT + little IT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You should be fine. The bigger dat will not see the smaller one as a threaat at all ;)

Well I was going to wait til I move in a months time, but I got sick of the little dat eating all the pellets I was trying to feed my dels in the 30g grow-out tank (seriously, it would eat about 8 hikari arowana sticks, then I'd throw in the sinking carnivore pellets for the dels and it would eat 10-15+ of them!!!) so I put it in the 160g. Its grown enough to avoid being a target for the aro, and gets on great with the big dat. I'll try to get pics, but I'm working lates this week so it might not be until the weekend.

Big dat & small dat should be fine. Currently, I have 13"++ ST with 8" IT in an Arowana tank (300 gallons). There is no aggression from big dat to small dat at all. Here they are in the following video clips:

Earlier I tried to comm 2 big dats (14"++ & 13"++) and had to separate them after 3 days as the big dat chased small dats continuously and caused splited tail and dropped scales on the small one.

Wow! I am truly impressed with your collection. I love the ST. It's sad to think that this may be it for this species. In 20 years nothing left of them except for some videos. Thanks for sharing.

I wouldn't be surprised if when the IT gets a little bigger, that the ST wont tolerate it. That was my experience with large ST and smaller AT. Once the AT got to about 11 to 12 inches it was no longer tolerated by the ST.

Good Luck

well i have a 6 inch indo datnoid and a 4 inch NTT Dat, and my indo dat is super territorial. So if the thin bar gets any where near his territory then it will push the thin bar away
