Big ol Snappin Turtle

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The tank he can hardly move around in is the old tank. I took the pic to show his "Scar" i was told its from him fighting off an alligator. But i did a little research and i guess there shells can be deformed from lack of nutrients as a baby.

Anyone know if it looks like he really fought off an alligator? Or was just stuck in a tank with no food?

Awesome, Water temp has be stable at 74f for the last 4 hours = )

Also by "unfrozen shrimp" did you mean like never frozen shrimp? The shrimp i have been feeding him are from safe way party platters. They come frozen but i defrost them before i feed them to him.
That is it, frozen shrimp that you then defrost.

I got some pics from changing tanks last night. A good full body pic and one of his new home. I blanked out some plants, because they look at like pot. I assure you they are NOT.
I gess your turtle is smoking allot during the nigth wille your away:ROFL:Sorry dude couldnt resist LOL:D Ok, now, your turt is a bit on the fatish side, HE IS OK, but try to avoid him getting more fat, try to mantain that body condition, focus on nutrient full foods and avoid all red meats and meat by products. Also you can increase the water level to 1,5 times the length of the shell.

i have seen full grown snappers kept with sunfish, and once a largemouth bass, but it is not recomended. you could just keep some big feeders in there and he will pick them off as he wants. good lookin turtle

Just dont use cyprinids, stuff like convicts and mosquito fish is ok.

Nah its not a grow op. its just keeping a few clones alive over the winter, He just needed a quit warm home so i figured he would like it in there.
