I have a Texas cichlid who's been awesome. In the last three days he hasn't eaten much and now isn't even eating. It never did this.

Something is wrong with its mouth can someone help me what's wrong with it and how to treat the mouth issue.

Everything looks the same minus the obvious mouth.

Lower the temp? How much lower? I'm at 80 right now. I've had this fish for about 6-7 months and I got him from a hobbiest. Hes been fine. He's breathing heavy and hanging out by my sponge filter so im scared he'll die soon.

Did some research it appears to be duck lips. Some say raise temps and some say don't. I'm going to set it at 76 degrees. People say don't use metro in the tank it's bad and this and that. I don't want to lose this guy he's a monster 10 inch Texas

Do anything you can to treat it as this is a nothing to lose situation good luck to you

I haven't seen anyone successfully treat duck lips. Sucks man.

Btw your Tex can withstand temps of 65-85... There isnt anything to lose... I would wiggle the temps a lot in a QT with him in it.
