heaven is my home
i was just cleaning the fx5, and twice during the process i dumped around 10 gallons of water on the floor. i have tile floors but my stand is wood. i have a fan going on it right now. the whole bottom part of the stand is soaked. so is the stand done for? and what can i expect to happen? any advice would be great, thanks

its iffy man i would definitely get your fans out but beyond that its a wait and see game...

is it solid wood or a corrugated type material

better chances with solid wood.

I agree that solid wood should have a chance. That corrugated stuff weakens ten times easier but with regular wood it should just dry out if you've cleaned most of the water up.

yeah its solid wood. i got as much water as i could up from the floor. do you think mold will be an issue down the road?

most likly not. u should be fine. ive made so many large messes in my fish room and soaked many stands but they are all fine. it shouldnt rot or really ahve any mold issues. if u have a gap and it was wet in the gap u might have issues to watch for.
ull be complty fine though man

Like everyone else, i wouldnt be too worried about it.

Im just curious how you spilled 10 gallons of water cleaning an FX5

so heres how it went down. i had about 3 hrs of sleep last night. it was time to do the big every 2-3 month cleaning. first spill happened when i pulled off the output hose before closing it:nilly:. smart one. then i cleaned the fx5, filled it with water and put it under my stand. started cleaning something else, then thought oh go plug the fx5 in. then bam, more water on the floor. i forgot to hook up the output and input hoses:screwy:. needless to say it was a crappy night. but i got new fish coming in the morning so that will make me happy again. ive been doing this for a couple years now and ive never made a mistake like this or two mistakes in the same night.

:ROFL:That sounds like one of those things that you just have to shake your head and laugh at yourself for. Happens to the best of us though so dont feel bad, i started siphoning some water out the other without the end of it being in a bucket the other night.

oh i was stinking mad for about 45 mins after the first spill, then the second came and it was just pitiful. a humbling experience to say the least
